Do Manhattanites love Chick-fil-A as much as the rest of the country?

Chick-fil-A has certainly been expanding in New York City. In August, the chicken and waffle fries franchise opened its third spot. It also unveiled plans to open a “roof top” restaurant over in the Financial District.

Still, the franchise sees less than 1 percent of foot traffic share in Manhattan — vastly under indexing compared to its national foot traffic share of 7 percent, according to tech savvy research firm xAd.

But as dining trends continue to shift in 2017, the report bodes well for Chick-fil-A — despite a slight dip in foot traffic in N.Y.C. between December and January — which saw the largest increase in foot traffic of any “quick-service restaurant” this past quarter.

The franchise now generates more revenue per restaurant than any other fast food chain in the country.

xAd, a New York City startup, provided us with some data on what local diners are preferring these days.

Turns out, across the U.S., Chick-fil-A is the preferred fast food chain among “Generation Z” shoppers. Today’s teens are more likely to favor the Atlanta-based food company, Seattle-based Starbucks, Denver-based Chipotle, and Irvine, California-based Taco Bell over the golden arches of McDonald’s.

Still, McDonald’s has the largest share of foot traffic nationwide.

Here in Manhattan, the Chicago-based fast food chain ranks second for foot traffic. Starbucks grabs the number one spot for foot traffic, xAd reports.

The data purveyor, which raised $42.5 million in venture capital in November, helps companies keep track of customers and their changing habits.
